Associate Prize Winners : Part 2

WINNER: LOIS SKELTON, INTERIOR DESIGN, BOURNEMOUTH UNIVERSITY
PROJECT: Project:Point

Willis & Murray is a new prize-giver for New Designers. The judges were impressed by ‘the appropriate re-use of an existing building, with minimum intervention and minimum use of new material, to form a new central transport hub that will facilitate and promote sustainable transport alternatives.’

Lois already has a job offer, so will use the prize to pay off some of her student debt. She said, ‘being at New Designers an winning this prize has increased my self confidence in my work and has reinforced my excitement to work within the industry.’ 

WINNER:  PABLO DE LA PENA, DIGITAL INTERACTION DESIGN, UNIVERSITY OF DUNDEE
PROJECT: SLOPE SCOPE

Cyber-Duck is a also a new supporter for New Designers and its prize winner is offered an iPad and 3 month internship.

Commenting on the quality of Pablo de Pena’s work the Cyber-Duck judges said, ‘We were really impressed by all the work of the Dundee Interative Media students – it was a difficult decision. The winning project demonstrated amazing innovation and interactivity making the most of technology to create an idea that is not only fun, useful and creative but also has huge commercial potential.’

Pablo, who was awarded a 1st class honours degree and was the Level 2 and Level 3 top performing student, now plans to move to London. He was delighted: ‘winning was very unexpected and I am hugely grateful for the recognition of my work,’ he said. ‘Coming to New Designers is an experience in itself, but this has blown it out of the water!’
