Facing the challenges ahead with New Designers

We are aware of the many challenges and changes universities are now being faced with following government cuts. Therefore, it is even more important for universities to use New Designers to showcase the excellent standard of teaching, celebrate and support its graduates, communicate changes and ensure future growth through recruitment.

For many universities the shift in funding New Designers may rest more on the graduates so this is an opportunity for them to learn why exhibiting at New Designers is so valuable, ask questions, share ideas, meet fellow student reps, share experiences and if applicable, ideas for how to fundraise to enable them to achieve these opportunities.

The Secrets to Success: how to make a career out of illustration

Digital Arts' editor Neil Bennett and four of the UK's leading illustrators engage in a lively, opinionated discussion on the steps graduates should take to move from university days to a rewarding career as a professional illustrator.

Each of the illustrators will give a short talk on how their career has progressed from graduation to where they are today – revealing how a mix of talent, self-promotion and a bit of luck has helped them to creative and professional success. These talks will be followed up by a panel discussion based around a series of questions that are on every graduate's mind: from 'How do I make some/more/any money?' and 'Do I need to up sticks to London?' to 'Can I work for big clients without selling my soul?' and 'How do I stop myself from telling clients to £$%* off?'. They'll then throw the discussion opens to questions from the audience to find out exactly what you want to know.
