Ceramics for the 21st Century

The exhibition of work from the graduates of UCLAN’s BA (Hons) in Ceramics displayed at New Designers 2010 is a diverse and intriguing mix of functional ware and fine art that is tied together by a minimal pallet of materials.
This exhibition showcases the best contemporary work of a group of new ceramicists that are passionate about art and design. Their practical work is underpinned by a sound understanding of ceramic processes, innovative idea generation, and critical analysis. Informed by both craft and fine art practices these beautiful objects comment on architectural spaces, social interactions manufacturing processes and domestic environments.
These highly motivated graduates have huge creative potential to develop into the forefront of the next generation of artist makers who have the capacity to express their ideas with imagination and confidence using clay as the medium of choice.
