One & a Dozen: Showcase 2010
This body of work from the final year students BA (Hons) Graphic Design, South Essex College, will take you the length and breadth of Graphic Design, highlighting the expanse it now embodies. You will encounter design projects that beg us to revalidate our relationship with everyday objects, enquiries into mythology and science, initiatives to encourage inspiration, alongside visual and typographic explorations of misinterpretation and language. Questions regarding the role of the graphic designer as the author are brought to the fore as many of the presented projects have evolved from content developed by the students themselves. In addition, there are also provoking examples of editorial design, information design and documentary photography.
This group of students have spent the past three years seeking to understand their position with the Graphic Design discipline, where they have now come to challenge it and engage with it further in establishing the initiative ‘One & a Dozen’. This will be home to a number of exciting projects in the coming months so keep an eye on this lot – oneandadozen.blogspot.com
Finally, I would like to encourage you once more to please join us in observing, questioning and responding to the accomplished output of today's young designers. They will present a wide range of work within their specialized portfolios with input from leading industry practitioners, such as Why Not Associates and Melvin Galapon.
I look forward to meeting you at the show!
Kind regards,
Paul Bailey
Course Leader BA(Hons) Graphic Design
