TEXTILE DESIGN AT BCU

BA (Hons) Textile Design at BCU offers an experience which celebrates the diversity of contemporary textile practice. Embracing both digital technology and traditional craft skills, students are encouraged at each level to develop their creativity, personal talents and professional awareness, leading to a textile design degree in one of five exit pathways: Constructed Textiles, Embroidery, Printed Textiles, Surface Design or Textile Retail Management.
The course actively fosters links with industry and organisations including museums and galleries through collaborative projects and work placement opportunities, equipping students with the skills appropriate for increasingly diverse career outcomes.
The seventeen exhibitors at New Designers 2010 are graduates selected from all pathways. They include Frances Bleksley, winner of the Tektura Innovation Award for Wallcovering at the Interiors show, Birmingham, 2010, and Natalie Rudkin, winner of the Global Colour Trend Award at the same show, as well as BIAD 2010 award winners Viv Wilson (Louisa Anne Ryland travel bursary) and Jess Edwards (George Jackson Educational Travel Award). The design graduates will showcase a diverse and innovative range of work which represents the unique nature of the course.
