BA(Hons) Textile Design for Fashion & Interiors
BA(Hons) Creative Arts: Mixed Media Textiles

2010 sees a particularly strong cohort of graduates, with a good number of first class degree awards being made. These degrees reflect the strong individuality of the graduates and their portfolios, with work exploring both craft and digital applications of stitch, print, knit and weave but also advanced and exciting extensions of these into new uncharted disciplines.
Highlights include:
Anna Glasbrook – Fantastic architectural textiles exploring surface, light, space and colour – Exciting, fresh and entirely modern
Anna Jensen – Funky modern digital prints for interiors – Beautifully drawn florals with a bizarre or humorous twist in striking and saturated colour
Joanna Beasley – Stitched and printed metal for interiors – Drawn, printed and embroidered line over two and three dimensional surfaces
Amada Bater – Delicate painted and printed sheers, pieced and layered for fashion – Classic but modern
Fiona Haines – Textile art utilising man-made, engineered materials, exploring line, edge and texture and the psychology of accessibility
Clara Kelly – Quirky creatures and objects exploring eclectic collaged and stitched fabrics - Joyous and sentimental
Jan Knibbs – Winner of a prestigious Hank & Lock Prize for embroidery - Rich textiles for couture and accessory
Lyn Snow – Printed and embroidered textiles for interiors with a strong painterly vocabulary
Jennifer Leith – Innovative and edgy couture textiles
Madeline Stokes – Big, bold, painterly florals for fashion or interiors
Gabrielle Forshaw – Beautiful stitched and embroidered textiles exploring narratives and the nature of objects and the viewer
Wendy Allan – Lighting solutions in boldly coloured silk and resin
Nina Davis – Ethereal hanging collages, exploring narratives through cut, printed and stitched, paper and cloth
Overview
Textiles at Bath Spa is diverse and original, reflected in its unique portfolio of courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
We are proud of our non-house style, where students are encouraged to develop a strong sense of individuality, personality and direction throughout their degree experience and beyond.
The department of Fashion & Textiles at Bath Spa University has strong links with industry with regular professional contributions to taught projects and provision of work placements, most recently with Alexander McQueen.
The department also has strong international links, particularly with Japan, where we have made a number of highly successful study trips. During 2009-10 an exciting new exchange programme has been established with Seian University of Arts in Kyoto and we are currently developing links with Eindhoven Design City in the Netherlands.
