Associate Prizes 2010

In addition to New Designers Awards, Associate Prizes are another way in which industry organisations can select and present a graduate with a prize. These prizes are selected and presented directly to the graduates on the first opening day of each part and help to create further recognition for young talented individuals.

Judging for the 2010 Awards will take place during New Designers on Thursday 01 July 2010 and Thursday 08 July 2010.

PART 1
		New Designers Christy Carpets Associate Prize Part 1: Thursday 01 July 2010 Criteria The Christy Award will be presented to the student whose work encompasses all of the basic principals of design, demonstrating creativity and innovation in the surface pattern either through the use of texture or design with the ultimate goal of creating a design that could be developed into a commercial carpet design. 		New Designers Worshipful Company of Weavers Associate Prize Part 1: Thursday 01 July 2010 Criteria The most outstanding designer of woven fabric exhibiting at New Designers. Designs can be suitable for fashion or interior fabrics and must show a knowledge of the production process. The winner must be a British subject. Award £1000 & 24 months' membership to www.newdesignersonline.co.uk

		New Designers Clothworkers' Company Associate Prize Part 1: Thursday 01 July 2010 Criteria Printed textile design. Award £1,000 24 months' membership of www.newdesignersonline.co.uk

		New Designers Contemporary Glass Society Associate Prize Part 1: Thursday 01 July 2010 Criteria To be awarded to a graduate in the field of glasswork whose work is considered to be outstanding in terms of design and quality Award First Prize worth £1500 Cash award of £250, £100 worth of materials from Warm Glass, Photographic shoot of the winning student’s work (value £750) & Promotional and membership package (value £400) 24 months' membership of www.newdesignersonline.co.uk

		New Designers Moon Jewellery Associate Prize Part 1: Thursday 01 July 2010 Criteria We require the winning designer to be passionate about realising their designs in the commercial retail world. They should demonstrate excellent knowledge of emerging trends and materials and be commercially aware of how those factors can be implemented, manufactured and retailed in the middle to higher end of the sterling silver and stone set market. We require the winning designer to inject innovative, fashion forward ideas with knowledge of ethical and environmentally sound solutions in contemporary jewellery design. We would like the designer to potentially produce the following: 5 Collections to include pendant, earring and ring 5 Collections to include pendant or necklace, earring, ring and bracelet In addition 5 statement standalone piece. It is important that the designs tell a story that our demographic relate to and embrace. Award £200 & The possibility to work on a freelance basis to produce designs for the commercial sterling silver and stone set market. 24 months' membership of www.newdesignersonline.co.uk

		New Designers Murray & Willis Associate Prize Part 2: Thursday 08 July 2010 Criteria The most innovative, environmentally friendly new interior concept preferably utilising reclaimed/sustainable materials. Award £250 & 24 months' membership of www.newdesignersonline.co.uk

		New Designers Cyber-Duck Associate Prize Part 2: Thursday 08 July 2010 Criteria Cyber-Duck are looking for talented graduates in Interaction Design that are interested in Web and User Centred Design, looking to get into the Digital Arena and expand their horizons. Cyber-Duck are looking for graduates showing innovation and extraordinary design work with the capability of transferring these skills into the web world.
