The Screening Room at New Designers is a dedicated curated selection of the best shorts from this year’s new filmmakers and animators who are experimenting across moving image, animation, film, and gaming.
The New Designers Screening Prize is open to ALL graduates who are exhibiting within Visual Communications of New Designers. A panel of industry experts will view the selected finalists and all short films will have their own curated premier.
2019 screening room Winner
Winner of the New Designers 2019 Screening Prize was Jacinta by Joanna Pinto (Cambridge School of Art, ARU)
‘Jacinta is an old potter who lives a lonely, repetitive life in her secluded home. When she finally lets herself be inspired by the beauty of lives around her, Jacinta realises she can give new meaning to her own life.
I was inspired by the work of a Portuguese ceramics artist of the 20th century called Rosa Ramalho whose life and wonderful clay creatures she created led me to create “Jacinta”‘.
We encourage short film, moving image, digital media and gaming submissions of all types including narrative and experimental, live action and animation, fiction and documentary to enter for the Screening Room Prize.
