Screening Programme at New Designers 2016

Throughout Part 2, including Thursday Late, New Designers features selected shorts from exhibiting graduates across moving image, animation, film and gaming.

We were excited to welcome an esteemed panel of industry experts to judge the New Designers Screening Prize 2016. Judges included:

  • Lee Parker – Creative Director On Air – Entertainment and Movies at Sky
  • Lorenzo Cenci Di Bello – Producer/Lead Compositor at Be Animation
  • Adam Jenns – Founder and Executive Producer at Mainframe
  • Aly Moffat, Executive Producer at 2am Films
  • Basil Khalil, Independent Academy Award Nominee Film maker

The panel of industry experts viewed the selected finalists at New Designers during Part 2 and selected Tom Edmondson, University of Derby, VC25 as the winner of the New Designers  2016 Screening Prize.  Tom was presented with a £250 cash prize from Sky and a work placement with Be Animation. You can view his winning short above. 

Visitors to the show were also able to vote for their personal favourite with the most popular short being awarded the New Designers Screening Prize People’s Vote. The winner of the New Designers Screening Prize People’s Vote 2016 was Aaron Baker, University of Portsmouth, VC1.


New Designers Screening Prize 2017

To demonstrate our continual support and recognition of the importance of digital media, New Designers is offering the exciting opportunity for graduates to showcase a selection of work embracing film, TV, video, moving image, gaming, digital media and animation.

The New Designers Screening Prize is open to ALL graduates who are exhibiting within Visual Communications in Part 2 of New Designers (05-08 July 2017). There will be a dedicated Screening Room for all visitors and exhibitors to come and view the entries during Part 2 of the show.

We encourage short film, moving image, digital media and gaming submissions of all types including narrative and experimental, live action and animation, fiction and documentary. Applications open in March.
