New Designers is a unique platform for fresh design talent, connecting with design educators, professionals and consumers, providing creative exchange and collaboration. Over two weeks we celebrated the bright future of design at London’s Business Design Centre, 26 June–29 June & 3-6 July. Exploring every discipline of modern making, 3,000 hand picked graduate designers from around the country brought disruptive thinking, ambitious ideas and innovative approaches.
Dennis Nothdruft, Head of Exhibitions at the Fashion and Textile Museum, opened and presented the winners with their awards for Week 1, he said: ‘New Designers represents the best of new British design talent; the breadth and width of the talent that is seen at New Designers never ceases to impress and inspire.’
For Week 2 Celebrated British furniture and home-ware designer Bethan Gray opened and presented the awards. She says of the show: ‘It is an honour to be asked to open New Designers Part 2. 21 years ago – almost to the day – I won what was then the Habitat Innovation Award at New Designers and it launched my career. It is a show that is very close to my heart and I can’t wait to meet this year’s graduates’
