Looking back to the start of your career, what advice would you love to give yourself?
Listen to experience, then make your own journey your way, get lost, take a wrong turn, discover something wonderful while there and keep on moving, learning and travelling forward with an open curious mind … and a sketchbook and pen.
Why is New Designers important to you and your brand?
We love it at Hallmark, it’s our favourite time of year! We support education and work with universities throughout the year. At New Designers we get to see the talented graduates progress to be the next new emerging designers and many of our design team have been discovered at New Designers. We are delighted to be involved.
If your brand was a design invention, what would it be and why?
Hallmark’s `design invention’ would be something that when opened makes you feel instantly loved, the `product’ helps you to celebrate momentous occasions even when on your own, the `technique’ would make you lift the little muscles in your face and make you SMILE.
Why? To connect, help us feel gratitude, to feel loved and cared for, to console a sad soul, and to remember our special people in our lives … not bad for a sustainably sourced folded piece of paper.
