Tom Banks has been editor of Design Week since 2016 and a journalist with the magazine since 2008, having started his career in 2005 as a music journalist.

With a deep knowledge of material processes and a passion for material cultures, Aoife’s experience spans craft to industrial process with the development of Print Block, a collective studio and community of creatives in Dublin, to a range of mobility focused CMX programmes which bring brand experience to life through thoughtful sensorial touchpoints.

A flexible thinker with a broad curiosity, Aoife interprets market and cultural signals to craft compelling narratives which unlock opportunities for compelling and memorable experiences.

Development of the onboard vision for Delta, the world’s largest airline by fleet and a household brand. Strategically crafting the experiential framework for the onboard experience through the lens of materiality, sensoriality and brand narrative.

Future Materials

Horizon setting for Airbus, one of the largest aviation OEMs globally. Through the lens of circular design principles, we developed evocative and challenging future scenarios. Grounded in a systems and materials lead approach, identifying actionable opportunities for ownable design language and brand expression.

Developing the cuspal discipline of CMX through sensorial and material activations — promoting a culture of material literacy for our teams and clients alike. Through purposeful partnerships and engagements, we use our NewThinking framework to identify project opportunities through a systems focused, sustainability lens. An engaging space for exploration, learning and play.

Tom Meades is a co-founder and chief design officer at gomi, a design-led sustainable electronics company based in Brighton, UK. Tom graduated from the design school at the University of Brighton in 2017, and went onto setup gomi immediately after. His experience spans across 3D/Product Design, Circular Design and building Startups. Tom’s work has been exhibited at Paris Fashion Week, Dutch Design Week and is now stocked in stores such as MoMA in the US and Selfridges in the UK. His work at gomi has also featured in global media such as Forbes, HypeBeast, and Dezeen, and he has recently won a design award at Milan Design week. Learn more at gomi.design.
