The Royal School of Needlework runs the only full time BA (Hons) Hand Embroidery Degree programme. So to study with us is a very unique opportunity. The RSN Degree provides an academic creative learning experience connecting creative art and design practice, textile and design theory with a technical skills base of hand embroidery.

Hand embroidery, as a specialist discipline offers many diverse career routes for you as a graduate.

These may include:- hand embroiderer for the fashion and interiors market, hand embroiderer for film and costume, artist, designer-maker, craft writer, postgraduate researcher and artist in galleries and schools.

During your studies, you will be taught specific RSN hand embroidery techniques by RSN trained Tutors. ‘Learning through Making’ puts into context how your study on the Degree.

Live Projects with industry clients form a mainstay of the programme and have included: Alexander McQueen, Burberry, PJ Harvey, Zandra Rhodes, Patrick Grant & E.Tautz, Hussain Chalayan, Nicholas Oakwell Couture, Liberty, V&A Museum, Musson+Retallick, SHEME shoes, Bradford Textile Society, Worshipful Company of Glovers competition, The New Craftsmen; RSN Graduates have had articles about their practice published as part of the Textiles: The Journal of Cloth and Culture.

Bursaries: The RSN is proud to be able to offer a significant number Bursaries to degree students annually.
