Celebrate the joys of low tech, working from home or classroom-based image making techniques, through the lens of an ultra-contemporary eye for trends, and forward-looking alignment to surface pattern and textile design processes.
PATTERNTASTIC MINI REPEATS
WEDNESDAY 30 JULY, 11.30AM
Create lo fi hand rendered repeats through a practical workshop using a mix of techniques and media. Use a variety of approaches to explore pattern making, easy repeat compositions and variations. All achieved with a lo tech approach, some imagination and inspiration, and as ever the potential for further development and alignment to surface pattern and textile design processes.
LOVE LETTERS TO DIGITAL PATTERN DESIGN
WEDNESDAY 30 JUNE, 1.30PM
Play with font in this Digital Pattern Design workshop and learn to create a fashion forward print design – in repeat! Using digital software, students will explore, design, and develop methods and processes to create a seamless pattern design.
WEAR THE ROOM - JEWELLERY IS EVERYTHING
THURSDAY 1 JULY, 10.00AM
This is an introductory ideas-based workshop that explores the wonderful world of art jewellery and body adornment. Students will be asked to create their own wearable piece from any number of found objects around the home. You will be sent more information to help you prepare for this session when you sign up..
PAPER EYEWEAR DESIGN
THURSDAY 1 JULY, 11.30AM
Have fun exploring a range of design options for innovative eyewear created in paper. This will lead to other exciting ideas for glasses design, be it as a product or as a one-off piece of art for performance or fashion. You will be sent more information to help you prepare for this session when you sign up.

ND Futures is our programme of talks and workshops offering guidance and inspiration aimed at 15-18 year olds and forms part of our Schools Days. It’s the ideal opportunity for design inspired A-Level, GCSE and BTEC students to seek career and education advice about potential courses to pursue at a degree level.
The 2023 talks and workshops programme was curated by Hannah Payne, a previous ND Graduate. The 2024 programme will launch in the Spring. Please check back for further details.

Schools groups visiting New Designers are able to attend free dedicated workshops, giving students a fun, educational and hands-on experience to complement their trip. Daily workshops offer innovative and creative activities for students within the design disciplines of Interior Architecture, Interior Design, Fashion, Graphic Design, Fine Art and Illustration.
