‘Raw’
Fruit is made from fibrous components, which after blending and drying, acquire the ability to form a durable sheet. The resulting material, RAW, is completely made from waste fruit, is 100% biodegradable and technically edible.
Sustainability is obviously very important to you and your focus. What is it about sustainability that resonates with you as a designer?
For me, sustainability in design is about looking to the future and developing concepts and materials that are innovative and look to solve potential environmental issues by developing new approaches to ecological problems.
What is your goal as a designer?
As a young designer, I hope to influence others to try to tackle sustainability issues as well as encouraging public and governmental changes as to how society views renewable commodities and sustainable alternatives.
Who or what is your biggest influence/inspiration?
My parents are my biggest inspiration as they have backed me through everything that I have approached whether it be academically or personally, I am able to achieve my goals because I know that I will be supported no matter what path I choose to take.
How do you push through a creative block?
When experiencing a creative block, I often take a break, and look to other designers for inspiration to give me ideas on an alternative approach.
What’s next for you, where will you focus your next project?
Next for me on my journey as a designer, I’m looking for a career where I can enhance my skills and bring new creative approaches to a company. I’m always looking for inspiration and innovative ways to develop current projects to maximise their potential.
Hypothetically, if your studio was a blaze and you could save one thing, what would it be?
If my studio was on fire, I would save my camera as it contains all the pictures of memories with my family and friends, my old design projects I have created over the years as well as inspirations from travels around the world.
