Margo Selby

Margo Selby is a British artist and designer of woven textiles. She studied at Chelsea College and the RCA – and started out at New Designers herself in 1999. Since then, she has built a business, and established an expansive approach to working in textiles – across art, design and industry, with partners including Osborne & Little, John Lewis and Habitat. Margo’s practice as a weaver is at the heart of all of the studio projects.

Her successful career in textiles has been recognised in 2021 with the award of the Turner Medal for Britain’s Greatest Colourist.

Sebastian Conran

Sebastian Conran is a British Designer who’s storied career has spanned some of the UK’s most prominent companies. He is currently the Chair of the Conran Foundation and Conran & Partners Ltd. and a Visiting Professor of Design and Innovation at Bristol Robotics Lab.

His studio’s designs have received many awards for design & innovation as well as being named on over 50 patents and design patents in various fields. From stacking shelves at Habitat in his teens to founding the Consequential Robotics start-up, Sebastian has been focused on understanding how things are made (‘form follows fabrication’) and sold, as well as ingeniously designing innovative, stylish and satisfying products.

Over the past 45 years he has taken hundreds of successful and enduring products through from concept idea to user experience.
Sebastian is a strong advocate of design & technology both in education and business: He previously served as Designer in Residence at University of Sheffield Engineering Faculty, a Visiting Professor at Central St. Martins Innovations faculty, and taught Furniture at the Royal College of Art.

He lectures frequently to students and industry on design & entrepreneurship; a judge for many UK & international design awards including Design Week, Dyson, Red Dot, RSA, has attended UK trade missions to Hong Kong, Taipei and Seoul and written several books, articles and papers on design.
