A high end interior collection inspired by the rewilding movement.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Observed is a high-end street wear print collection that seeks to capture the uneasy experience of constant scrutiny, under the unescapable gaze of judging eyes. My designs are conceptually driven influenced by works such as George Orwell’s 1984, the surrealists and physiological phenoniums like the uncanny valley. I initiated my design process through the observational drawings of characters that intrigue me, distorting and contrasting these into surreal compositions that underpin the narrative of my prints. Through my collection I have developed several hand writings in the pursuit of capturing charm, tension and mood, influenced by designers such as Kidsuper that focus on stylization and application of media. I am now excited to pursue my passion for print design and illustration in my future career. Derived from the idea of Reclamation and rewilding. ‘Renea’ aims to preserve the delicate quality of deuteriation and imperfection, celebrating lived in textures, such as pealing paints and cracked surfaces, becoming the centre for wild growth. The high-end interior collection demonstrates my interest in transformation and journey, building upon narrative, and longevity as essential values within my design practice. Appreciation towards the way foliage falls and revives itself is investigated through Skeletal leaves, alongside contemporary florals encapsulating a sophisticated and sensitive collection bound by an elegant yet rich pallet.
