New Designers offered more than just a chance to mark the end of a challenging yet thrilling final year alongside my peers. It was an opportunity to connect with fellow designers who, like me, were gearing up for their next ventures in the creative realm. Being able to meet like-minded individuals, network with professionals and hold discussions with potential investors made the event truly enriching.
When describing my ‘typical day’, all I can say it begins at 8:30am and wraps up around 5pm. Apart from that, there is not really anything ‘typical’ about each day. That’s the beauty when working at a consultancy like DCA – each day brings fresh new tasks and challenges. One day you might find me in a workshop with new mums, exploring the challenges they face while breastfeeding, while the next I might be in a hangar with Rolls Royce, exploring the future of cockpit design.
Embrace courage over shyness. Let your curiosity take the spotlight. Don’t hesitate to ask those “silly” questions or ponder the reasons behind things. Stepping out of your comfort zone at New Designers will not only make the experience rewarding but it will also help lay a strong foundation for your professional journey. You never know which conversations might spark a new idea or offer a solution to that challenging problem you’ve been wrestling with all day.
