KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
The ND AWARDS 2021 Ceremony included two incredible keynote speakers, ceramic artist Kate Malone and WeTransfer’s Creative Director, Nessim Higson.

Nessim Higson is Executive Creative Director of the Studio at WeTransfer where he is in charge of the creative brand, identity, and visual language of the company.
KATE MALONE
CERAMIC ARTIST & THE GREAT POTTERY THROW DOWN JUDGE
Working across decorative arts, large-scale public projects and glaze research, Kate produces designs with hand skills at the core of the collection enabling and conveying a sense of pleasure within the materials.

- There is no limit to the number of awards you can respond to, but each entry must be tailored to that specific brief
- Entries are to be submitted online (full details are supplied in each brief)
- New Designers will take place 30 June – 3 July (Week 1) and 7 – 10 July 2021 (Week 2)
- The ND AWARDS programme is open to graduates from participating courses that are part of New Designers 2021

FURNITURE, PRODUCT, SPATIAL & INDUSTRIAL DESIGN
The Habitat Future Design Award: Furniture, Product, Industrial and Spatial Design Award Brief
PRIZE:
- Mentoring from our Senior Designers to gain invaluable industry experience
- Your design idea purchased for £500 plus support to get the product manufactured where possible to launch with Habitat
- The prize winner will be asked to provide exclusivity to Habitat if it decides to consider commercial development and production
- The panel will clarify terms and conditions of mentorship with the individual upon completion of the competition
The Conran Shop & The Marandi Foundation: Designer of the Future Award
Present an idea or design that has viable commercial potential.
PRIZE: Mentorship and product development investment worth up to £40,000. This comprises:
Create an artwork to accompany a feature on the positive impact craft has on mental health.
PRIZE: A paid opportunity to design the Papers or Good Read illustration in Mollie Makes / A full page feature in Mollie Makes / A Q&A feature on the Mollie Makes website / A takeover on the Mollie Makes Instagram account, reaching over 150K followers.
Pentagram Young Designers Award
Create ‘ViewPoint’, a standalone magazine for WITNESS, utilising graphics in an impactful way.
The winning design will also be promoted on Pentagram’s social channels. When the current restrictions are lifted, the winner will also be invited for a tour of Pentagram’s London studio, and will leave with a bag full of Pentagram swag.
JEWELLERY, CERAMICS, GLASS & CONTEMPORARY DESIGN CRAFTS
The Goldsmiths’ Company Jewellery Award
PRIZE:
- A £250 Goldsmiths’ Centre voucher for you to spend on any of our short courses
- One-to-one with the Professional Training Team to discuss your career aspirations and to help you plan your next steps
- One-week introduction to business course in 2022
